Leaving our stop for last night, Concrete, Wa., we rode Route 20, which took us thru Cascades National Park. This park is unique in that it is remote, wet and green, and has many glaciers in its midst. The movie at the Visitors Center, was the best we have seen thus far on any particular park. We were unable to see Baker Mountain, because of the cloud cover, as you can see from the photo. The entire ride today, until we crossed over into East Washington, was cloudy. In a matter of 10-15 miles we went from rain forest to high dessert. We rode thru a very interesting town , named Winthrop, which was packed with cars. We were unable to find a parking spot, but took a picture as we passed.
Our day finished with our arrival at Grand Coulee Dam, where we viewed the dam and took in the visitors center. Grand Coulee is the largest hydro power producer in the US with a total generating capacity of 6,809 megawatts. The dam is one of the largest concrete structures in the world, containing nearly 12 million cubic yards of concrete. That's enough concrete to build a highway from Seattle, Wa. to Miami, Fl. Or, you could build a sidewalk four feet wide and four inches thick and wrap it twice around the equator (50,000 miles).
Temps today 51-78.
Ride 200 miles.
Total mileage to date 8666

John/Les,
How many times have you guys changed your oil on this trip and have you needed to change any tires? The pictures are absolutely breathtaking. Stay safe.
Dave

We have not had to change oil, as we are using synthetic oil. We have not had to change any tires.
I have 33270 on my rear tires and over 9000 on the front.
